Bow Hair


Here are some photos to debunk the myths that it is the scales on horse hair that make violin strings vibrate, and that bows need to be rehaired because the scales get worn off.

The hair in the last third near the tip is so old that it is worn smooth.

Scales are too thin to grab even an E string.

( It's just the rosin that makes the strings vibrate.)
